VIA today announced its new CN800 chipset for its C7-D processors. The new CN800 features support for integrated graphics, DDR2 memory and PCI Express expansion capabilities. This time around VIA has equipped the CN800 with a UniChrome Pro integrated graphics core.
The integrated graphics core features VIA’s Chromation CE video engine to deliver hardware MPEG-2 decoding. Other notable graphics features include DuoView+ multi-display capabilities and support for LVDS and DVI interfaces.
As with other VIA chipsets the CN800 uses a traditional north and south bridge configuration. The CN800 can be paired up with VIA’s VT8237R for SATA RAID, high definition audio and Gigabit Ethernet.
The CN800 chipset should be available to manufacturers later this month.
