Intel expects to launch two integrated graphics equipped Bearlake chipsets – the G35 and G33 Express. Intel G33 Express-based motherboards are currently sampling and expected to launch next quarter with the P35 Express.

Motherboards based on Intel’s G33 Express will support upcoming Yorkfield and Wolfdale 45nm processors. Processors with front-side buses up to 1333 MHz are supported with G33 Express based motherboards. As with the Intel P35 Express, the G33 Express supports either DDR3-1066 or DDR2-800 memory.

The integrated graphics core inside the G33 Express will be similar to the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 found in the current G965. Intel Clear Video Technology will remain on the G33 Express graphics core as with the G965.

With Intel Clear Video Technology, the G33 Express is able to perform MPEG2 decoding, de-interlacing and video scaling in hardware. Motherboard manufactures are also able to integrate HDMI or DVI outputs with the available SDVO connection.

Early Intel G33 Express motherboards have been spotted; however, they appear to be on the value end of the spectrum. The motherboard pairs the G33 Express with the ICH9 in a micro-ATX form factor.

Unlike the previously spotted Intel P35 Express motherboard, this G33 Express motherboard only supports DDR2 memory. Four DDR2 memory slots are available for DDR2-667/800 MHz up to 8GB.

Expansion capabilities are typical for a micro-ATX motherboard with one PCIe x16, one PCIe x1 and two PCI slots. Other notable features include high-definition eight-channel audio, 12 USB 2.0 ports, four SATA 3.0Gbps connectors and Gigabit Ethernet.
