Intel can push Wolfdale to 4GHz to fight +3GHz B2 Phenom X2 -Sweeper_ Aug 5th, 07, 02:28 AM #1 (permalink)
According to THX, told from an Intel representative on China, arch. engineer in Taiwan.
45nm allowed them.

Translated via google, so don't expect much...

...'It's important to stand out that the specifications had been not yet finished, and can vary in case that the B2 revision of the K10 nucleus surprises, breaking the barrier of 3GHz as some sites had mentioned. One corresponds of China, engineer of the Intel, in it affirmed them that in case that this happens, modern lithography process 45nm High-K of the Intel will allow that dual-Core Wolfdale reaches the barrier of 4GHz of clock and quad-Core Yorkfield has the high frequency 3.66GHz, to everything this only with a simple increase of voltage.'...

very true, they done it once before, and if it wasn't for their marketing and consumers not knowing who amd were, they would have been screwed.

They have been using their influence to lock the oem market and keep AMD out of it. AMD also doesn't have the ability to get enough chips to sell anyway so don't think AMD got enough ability to screw Intel yet but if it happen again then there is no telling how much damage intel will suffer.

It's funny that when AMD says their chips are faster than Intel (which are already out), not many believe them. But when Intel says their new chips will be faster than the AMD chips (which haven't seen daylight in the consumer market), quite a few applauses. Scent of hypocrisy abound.
A blade cuts both ways. So why take the risk? Stab instead.
