Nvidia Scraps “Designed by Nvidia” Mainboard Marketing Scheme.

Nvidia says there will be no more "Designed by Nvidia" motherboards but standardised boards will still continue.

Consumers whose motherboard purchasing decision are influenced by the "Designed by Nvidia" moniker will need to start reading more of our motherboard reviews now. Nvidia has decided to quietly scrap the marketing scheme.

"Designed by Nvidia" motherboards were introduced to manufacturers to assist in saving costs by helping companies with limited research resources and funding launch new product lines faster then they would previously. Manufacturing companies with larger resources are able to add any additional features to the motherboard in order to help stand out in the market.

Drew Henry, general manager of MCP business at Nvidia, cited confusion among motherboard makers as the primary reason for scrapping the marketing moniker. Nvidia will continue to push standardised motherboards to makers so there is no need to worry about there not being any more nForce boards.

Very few people will probably even notice the departure of the "Designed by Nvidia" logo on the box of the boards.

Was your favourite nForce motherboard "Designed by Nvidia" or was it designed by another company? Tell us your thoughts on the dismissal of the moniker over in the forums.
