Ok. This one I won't doubt. This is definitely real. Really cool stuff. They finally admit that the 2900XT did not have UVD.

Though the difference between the 3870 and 2900XT is very minimal, I believe that AMD might have fixed the problems that plagued the latter. There's even a significant decrease in transistor count. I'm really anxious to see how they perform.

AMD, get them out of the door now!!!!

I'm still not very excited by the performance =\ At least it looks to be the case at this point

If you're referring to the performance figures released by someone in this forum, don't trust it. Don't trust anything that has chinese characters in it. It's literally obvious that it's a lie.

lol no i'm not. Im referring to the figures in the official slide. Everyone's saying how the new chips won't offer stellar performance... although i really hope deep inside me that's not gonna be the case

i think we have to see those reviews where the card is stressed to the max.. like running on 1650*1250 with AA/AF... then we will see the real difference of the cards.

performance wise, it will be clock for clock for the HD2900XT so the 3870 would probably be slightly faster than the HD2900XT which mean it would be slower than the 8800GT. Its not stellar but i am still getting this if the pricing is going to reflect that inferiority in performance.

Same no of SPs, Same no of TUs, clocked higher. ~~5% increase in processing rate.

Doesn't really look next-gen. Maybe the smaller process will provide for more OC headroom. But at stock settings, prob won't be a GF killer again.

It is meant to be next gen high performance series. It is not intended to replace next gen's Enthusiast series. Refer to the picture 1.

Enthusiast -> HD2900XT, X1950XT etc
Mainstream -> HD2600XT, X1650XT etc
Value -> HD2300XT, X1300Pro etc

3870x2 is intended to replace HD2900XT instead.
If you are a Tertiary Student, please help to do a 3 min survey about your campus! Thanks!!

That's a dual GPU or SLI setup in a single card ain't it?
Was hoping that they have a single GPU setup that can blow nVidia out of the water... or at least match their top end.

If i have to choose to trust the Chinese or philpino. I would trust Chinese
At least all the cards are actually produced there. It is really no big deal if some of them got it before anyone else can and run some tests on it.

on the other hand, philipine gets nothing worthy but exporting their maids to hong kong and it is well known they are known thieves that steal from their employers.

So what you say is too obviously a lie.
