wow, they're even comparing the 3850 and 3870 with the 2900XT, which is totally pwned by 8800GT! I think I've already made up my mind about what gfx card I should get for my next system... and my 'all AMD' computer is probably not gonna happen...

unless it comes out at a ridiculously low price

Those are probably the prices to resellers in quantities. Buy.com has the 3870 at $269.

The cards aren't even out yet. The prices currently set are just inflated to use the "OMG NEW CARD!" syndrome. Also, BestBuy is hardly a low-price retailer online.

Check the link. It's buy.com not best buy. They did the same thing with the 8800GT and prices went up the day after release when demand outstripped supply.

totally yes, at the same price bracket too...

At least they will have supply of 3850s and 3870s at launch, because you can't find 8800GT's anywhere!!

Even now..

so yes i'd go with the 3850s, and crossfire them...

2 x 3850s = cheaper than 1 8800GTS (the new edition with 112 sp)

first I thought WTF but then... nice picture, never believe a graph if you didn't fake it yourself...

looks still good though. if the price is considerably lower than the 8800gt AND avaiable anytime soon (8800gt mighty be not), I will go for it!

So HD2900XT is able to beat HD370 with lower core-clocks when AA&AF is enabled? So much for that claimed fixed AA! If 8800 GT owns HD2900XT when AA&AF is enabled then it will get uglier when 8800 GT is compared to HD3870.

Though how low they'll price it? In Europe leaked price information says that HD3870 will be similarly priced as 8800 GT 512MB..

3870
Woop massive deal.

if you actually read the graph properly its not. it gets 1.2 times faster than 2900xt. and these are benchies from daamit so expect them to be fairly bias. basically the 3870 equals 2900xt, which is great considering it will be cheaper, but really not that exciting. the GT will beat it easy.

this means thier card with 2 of these on one PCB will likely be a disapointment tbh. I was hoping ati might start beating nvidia again.

what do you mean 1.2x is significant thats 20% faster with lower clock much less power and is cheaper and its on 55nm this will overclock insanely with water cooling and what do you mean 2 of these will be a disapointment? this is only 500 points behind an ultra an when using crossfire ati claims it will scale 80% with 2 cards so rv680 could be 70% faster than a 8800 ultra an still use the same amount of power

Something looks fishy with those benchies...
