XFX announces 256MB GeForce 8800 GT at 149 euros Marduk25 Nov 14th, 07, 01:53 AM #1 (permalink)
When Nvidia officially released the GeForce 8800 GT we all knew a 256MB version but it's only today that such a version has been unveiled. The first manufacturer to announce the 256MB version 8800 GT is 'dog eat dog' XFX which has unveiled no less than two cards, a Standard Edition and a factory-overclocked XXX Edition.

Not surprisingly, the 256MB version is very similar to its bigger brother, but only aesthetic wise as the price tag of the 'little puppy' is significantly lower - €149 excluding VAT. The price given is most likely that of the stock version so expect the XXX Edition to cost a little more. The Radeon HD 3850 may need to get cheaper (again).

i really didn't think they'd be able to compete with AMD's price. this oughta shake things up in the sub-$200 market.

Intel Q9400 @ 3.2 * 2x2 GB G.Skill DDR3 1333 * Gigabyte X48T DQ6 * Radeon 5870
2x500 GB RAID-0 + 2x320 GB RAID-0 * CM Cosmos S *

Bang, that's something that is really going to hurt AMD. (I wouldn't buy 256MB card anymore, though).
