Don't think so. I did 3870 CF @ 2560x1600 and I get similar scores, so 3870x2 @ 2560x1600 score isn't that low.

Now, actually waiting for the two 3870x2 to CF and drive my 3008.....

Why in the world they run the benchies not in 'standard' resolution(1280*1024)??

Scare the score is not justify for the upgrade to 3870x2 as compared to 3870 CF??

i doubt anyone will sell their 3870 CF to buy one of these. it should basically be the same thing on a single card. they ran the test at that resolution because CrossFire scales well at high resolutions. for comparison, check the graph here (about a quarter down the page).

an 8800 Ultra with a QX6800 @ 2.93 scored 7,590 at that resolution. this 3870 X2 smoked it. granted, the CPU in the 3870 test was running at 3.6, but it's still obvious that this thing is a lot faster than an Ultra.

Intel Q9400 @ 3.2 * 2x2 GB G.Skill DDR3 1333 * Gigabyte X48T DQ6 * Radeon 5870
2x500 GB RAID-0 + 2x320 GB RAID-0 * CM Cosmos S *
21,193 3DMark06 (old score)

06 is also about cpu power. 8800Ultra with QX6800 at 2.93 is unfair compariosn with the score here. And some more if Ultra in SLI might easily overtake 3870x2.

I am not fan of either manufacturer.

Maybe they want to show that they have a monitor capable of that resolution?

But seriously, personally, I think current crop of cards have problems driving higher resolution.... even the Ultra struggles. My guess is that at standard resolution, the benefits of a more powerful card may not be that apparent compared to at higher resolution.

How I wish I have the 3870x2 now so that I can do some comparison: single 3870 at stock, single 3870 at OC, 3870 CF, single 3870x2, and dual 3870x2 (QF?)

Looks cool. If the 3870 x2 can smoke the upcoming 9800GTX, then I can consider this one. They should be in the same price bracket.

The 9800GX2 is just too pricey.
