RV770 clocks above 1GHz, launch in May newzhunter Mar 3rd, 08, 05:37 PM #1 (permalink)

RV770 clocks will be above 1GHz, much higher than RV670. The memory used are GDDR5. The yield rate is as high as 71%. The GPU revision is A11 and this will be the revision on the retail cards. The recently leaked RV7xx specs are all bullshit. RV770 architecture is similar to RV670 but further enhanced.

The white outline on the PCB as well as the short card length leaves me to believe this is a single slot mid/low range solution. The bracket is a single slot as is the cooler (bottom right).

Most likely thats just a picture of the RV730 or RV740.

if you consider, that rv670-based hd3870 should work fine with a single slot cooler too, then it is possible I think.

Since nV has no plans (at least not from I currently know of) till Q3/Q4 to retire / refresh the current G9x based lineup (9500/9600/9800 Series).

So yeah, they will launch it in May if they can, to gain some market share and ground againts nV in the DX10 market segment.

Nvidia is releasing G100 at Q2/Q3 timeframe (Most likely June/July)..around same time as R700 (all other rumours). Don't know what lines they are going to retire then.. Most likely 9500 and 9600 series would go on

NV going for g100... 9 series just to suck what ever cash they can from the market before they saturate the market again with g100...

mabe a sudden and strange mixup in the naming of the 8 and 9 series might offer some hints?...
