8800 GT SLI is around 9-12% faster than 9600 GT SLI on average. On USA price difference is about 30-40%, in Europe 20-25%..Asia..dunno.

Forget about neither, what's the point to grab one now that cannot run Crysis at 1920x1200 with 4AA and 16AF.

Wait for G100 and R700!

still, i refuse to use nvidia motherboards for intel chipsets. and the VR problem is probably what holds me back as it is, since i have some sinks very poorly attached to them.

Nvidia's Nforce 790i SLI is already good motherboard chipset; fights hard against Intel-chipsets..unlike 780i

The whole 9 series is a joke. The bastard child of the 8 series, if you will
I'm eyeballing the GT200 unless it turns out to be a phantom series with all the delays upon delays

Geforce 9600 GT is pretty good card..and Geforce 9800 GX2 is still single card solution that's like 50% faster than 8800 Ultra.

It looks more like a double-card patty.
A blade cuts both ways. So why take the risk? Stab instead.

Well it still uses one PCI-e x16 slot and takes same amount of space as 8800 ultra .

That it does, indeed. Anyone know of any overheating issues, if any?

No word about heating issues.
------
Or beloved friend Fuad has pretty positive attitude towards this card. He thinks that 300€ for 9800 GTX is great price [Even when you can get 8800 GTS 512 for 190€]. Well 60% higher price tag for extra 5% performance..

I thought from HWZ that 9800GTX perform 20% faster than 8800GTX and much faster than 8800GTS G92...

But can 9600GT SLI really run Crysis well?

Well.. 3.7% higher core clocks and 13% higher memory clocks..compared to 8800 GTS 512. so around 5% performance increase is expected.

So 1600x1200 High Quality in DX10

Are you kidding? How is 8800GTS faster than 9800GTX when its using the same G92 core and clock at higher frequency?

IIRC, the mainstream card 9600GT actually thrash a 7900GTX in performance now...

Again I will reinforced the point that I doubt 9800GTX is 100USA more expensive as price of 9800GTX has been reduced to US$299 as mentioned by other VR thread (just 50 bucks more than 8800GTS)...

I think its really worth it... 50 bucks more for a 25Mhz faster core speed, 160MHz memory speed and 63Mhz Shader + new OCed capability + better cooler + Tri-SLi
