I don't get how the memory size for the 4870 is 1gb and the memory interface is 256bit.

Well, seeing how they're currently priced, it makes me extremely interested in their x2's. Anyone got infos on that?

My guess is in the DX9 era, the larger the memory interface (bit) the better the card performs along with the speed of the gpu and ram.

In today's DX10 world, memory interface only plays a part of the video cards performance and the architecture of the card plays the other part.

Just think of the HD2900XT, it's got a 512bit, but with the crappy architectural design it's even slower and more power hungry than a HD3870 which runs on 256bit.

I believe mai stands for may in German.

I guess the May collision course between Nvidia and ATI is impossible to miss.

a 512bit bus for REALLY fast ram like GDDR5 would be a pretty big performance boost, but the reality is that a 512bit inferface is a whole lot harder and more expensive to produce than a 256bit interface, so its really not practical for the performance increase, and i really think thats their reason, to keep yields as high as possible.

Hmm.

Separate shader clocks? That really throws a big question mark on the validity of that image. If this is really a derivative of the R600/RV670 core, then it would have a unified clock for the whole chip.

P.S : If the prices are Euro, they would've used the Euro symbol.
