ATI RADEON 4850 @680mhz + VF1000 50+ benchmarks (+ vs 8800GTX vs 3870) psolord Jun 30th, 08, 09:02 PM #1

Greetings my VR-ZONE friends.

I would like to bring to your attention a review i wrote regarding the ATI RADEON 4850.

The difference of this review from the rest, is that the benchmarks are done on a completely overclocked system (nothing crazy) and the 4850 is overclocked too@680mhz.

These tests were done only at 1680x1050 and there are five categories. 8800GTX without AA, 3870 w/o and with 4xAA, as well as 4850 w/o and with 4xAA. We are talking 50+ benchmarks for each category.

You can find the translated version of my review here and the original Greek version here, in case you can read greek. Be warned though, the english google translation is very very off.

To save you the trouble you can find the .xls file of the test here (rapidshare)

If you don't have excel installed you can download the jpgs of the test here (also rapidshare).

Too much digging to see the actual benchmarks. none of the link shows me the data, and the Excel file is all packed up in a .rar file.

Why dont you post the benchmark scores here- ATI RADEON 4850 @680mhz + VF1000 50+ benchmarks (+ vs 8800GTX vs 3870)

LOL

exactly... thats why I said "Why dont you post the benchmark scores here- http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=295428" posting a nice link to this post hahaha

Its bad enough when you have posts that show no info on the post, but instead link to the info, but the links themselves show no info, we ahve to register, or unpack a rar file just to see what the poster is talking about.

nice review, though it would have helped tremendously if you also did a 8800 GTX with AA for comparison, since 4850's competitor isn't really 3870.

That 7800 Vantage score makes me cry ;_; 5216 with my pos E4300 (4097 cpu ).

You should also be able to push the memory clock quite a bit more and probably have more impact on performance. I can bench 700/1100 with no artifacts, though my Accelero keeps the card cooler at 38/50.

I wonder why my gpu score is much lower than yours, I thought it's not cpu bound

Oops sorry. The links to the site are indeed username limited, in order to see the pics.

I would upload the screenshots directly here but i don't see any upload button, even in the advanced.

I could upload to Imageshack, but the shots are 1680*1050 and it would make the thread ugly.

Come on guys it is not that much difficult to download a couple of files from rapidshare and decompress them!

Makenshi glad you liked it. Unfortunately i didn't forsee to do 4xAA tests on the 8800GTX and i don't have it anymore. My point of interest was to actually see how much better the 4850 was from the 3870.

Most people here are Singaporeans so we have issues downloading from RapidShare. It got something to do with our local ISPs. Try uploading to MediaFire instead.

Or upload your files to Google pages.

Google accessibility and bandwidth would be enough to serve the world... practically

Actually i was opting for a 4870. But the prices here in Greece were too much. Also the high power consumption in idle of the 4870 was another reason that made me go for the 4850.

Anyway, this card whichever it was, would eventually go to my secondary pc. What really matters for me now, is what ATI is going to pull off with the R700.

All in all, yes, i am very happy with the 4850, in its price range.
