GeForce GTX 295 Card Exposed VRNews Dec 10th, 08, 12:53 PM #1 (permalink)
VR-Zone scored the first photo of the upcoming GeForce GTX 295 card slated for launch over at CES 2009. The GeForce GTX 295 is based on the sandwich design again like the 9800GX2 with two 55nm GT200 GPUs. As you can see, there are 2 DVI and 1 Display Port. As for the power connectors, it uses 8+6 pins so that gives you a clue how much power this card needs. The pricing is yet to be disclosed but card makers are speculating that Nvidia will price it competitively against AMD 4870X2 card this time.

300W is max envelope for PCIe sig certification...

They've got to produce something, even in low volume, to re-establish top performance bragging rights...

I don't like sandwich cards but if it delivers the goods and is priced reasonably, then who cares?

AMD had better come up with something. this card would probably beat the HD 4870 X2 in "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" games and match it everywhere else. i think it would be less problematic than the HD 4870 X2 because of the good drivers.

Would like to point out that it's 2 DVI-I + 1 HDMI, instead of DisplayPort.

DisplayPort connector look like this:

While HDMI connector look like this:

and looking on the image, it's pretty sure that the lower connector is HDMI rather than DisplayPort.

Good drivers? Look for the benchies of 7950GX2 in latest games to see where this card will stand a few months down the road. No support for older cards is Nvidia's motto nowadays.

Probably not.
You may wish to wait for the rumoured RV790, but I won't confirm anything, as my sources say "nope, no such thing as RV790".

Who told you that the 4870X2 has problematic drivers?

I think ATI would rather concentrate on next gen cards and leave it to nvidia to play around with new cards. ATI can just cut price to kill nvidia new cards.

Nvidia have said that it doesnt matter about power or whatever, as long as it takes the crown back, they will do whatever for it.
