Why are they making computer monitors 16:9??? Most computer games only have resolution support for 4:3, 5:4 and 16:10, and not always 16:9. And if one of it's benefits is to allow "gaming in 1080p", why do most of these new 16:9 models only come with HDMI/DVI/VGA and no Component??? Makes me wonder what these monitor manufacturers are even thinking.

All consoles that can do 1080p have HDMI (except for the first 360s... but most of those [incl mine] are dead now lol)

they're attempting to save on the panels (Apparently they can cut more out with 16:9) and to consolidate the TV and monitor product lines to use the same resolutions.

Yeah, obviously a 20 inch widescreen panel has less surface area (and thus lower manufacturing cost) than a 20 inch regular aspect ratio panel. Companies try to maximize profits at any and all costs.
