the first utility of its kind

For a number of years, many enthusiasts have enjoyed the idea of voltage modifying the GPU in order to yield higher overclocks in an attempt to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of their investments. Yet, the result often came at the cost of voiding a warranty or possessing general soldering skills and a few anxiety relief pills.

ok 225mV is not so little as suggested. Anyone who has done some basic overclocking knows that. With an extra 225mV i managed to run my Q9550@4100Mhz from the stock 2830mhz and my Q6600@3600Mhz from the stock 2400Mhz. With less than 225mV my ATI 4850 jumped to 735Mhz!

Still it is very handy that all this can be done in software. Now if at idle the gpu drops to it's default vcore (which it should), then it would be great!

You can do all that with minimal effort though, by altering the bios.

What worries me though, is that the GTX 295 is already 289watt rated and from what i've seen in the reviews, it actually gets pretty close to that. So if a card with 576mhz core clock and 1242mhz shaders, goes to 783mhz core and 1692mhz shader, that's a 35% overclock.

So how much more power does it need? Even if the power requirement increase is not linear, a mere 20% more would drive the card way past the 300watts, it's connectors can give. 150watts for the 8pin,75watts for the 6pin and another 75watts via the PCIe, totalling 300watts.

So how on earth the system can provide the hypothetical 350watts+ the card will need?
