Test: GTX 285, 295... @ 181.20, Cat. 9.1

A test about Gainward GTX 285 and GTX 295 is online. In this test not only GTX 285 & GTX 295 were compared, 9800 GTX+, GTX 260 216, GTX 280 and HD 4850, HD 4870, HD 4870 X2, too.
While Geforce 181.20 driver was used for Nvidia cards, Catalyst 9.1 for ATI cards. So it shows the actual situation in best.

Florian, not that i want to doubt you about the test results, but are you sure about Far Cry 2 and Left 4 Dead scores at 1920? I mean from what i recall Nvidia is better at these games!

Unless the 9.1 driver has brought with it a few performance increases not previously discovered!

Yes I am sure. We repeat the results 3-4x and always the same results.
I think the VRAM of GTX 295 is to small.

And we do not benchmark with timedemos. We always use our own savegames, because we think it is more realistic.

nice scores, but I would've preferred the 1GB 4870 instead of the 512mb one

We will test them in the next week. A special test like "HD 4870/HD 4850: 512 vs. 1024 MiB" is planned.
