6%
That isn't competing with the GTX285.
I thought it would be at least 15% faster but 6?

yeah, 6% is pretty low, even for a refresh. doesn't seem worth it at all if the 4870 is getting a price drop.

Well... Lets just wait for the launch of the cards and drivers before judging. I recall that shops that shipped HD4850 prematurely had initial users having terrible framerates as the drivers for the 4850 ain't ready. I would have thought AMD has a updated driver along with the 4890.

that memory speed listed for the gtx275 is certainly wrong. it will not have over 2800mhz memory.

It's pretty obvious that VR-Zone screwed up and switched the memory clockspeed around with the SP clockspeed. If the SPs were clocked at 1161MHz, that would actually be lower than the GeForce GTX 260 (1242MHz SP clockspeed). So, it should read as: 633MHz core, 1404MHz SP, and 1161MHz (2322MHz effective) memory.

What I don't understand is the bit about how the simulated benchmarks from partners show that it is only slightly faster than the GeForce GTX 260. By my estimates, it should perform very close to a GeForce GTX 280. The higher clockspeeds (especially on the SP side: over 100MHz boost) would definitely partially offset the extra 4 ROPs and slightly higher memory bandwidth of the GeForce GTX 280.

From what i seen,not big chance for 4890vs GTX275..
ati fanboys talking about how Nvidia refreshing they old cards, but at least they (Nvidia) know how to get 10-15% more performance.
Now,when ati made 4870 refresh in 4890,its become
ati drivers get better?hm..isnt Nvidia making they drivers better to?
GTX275>4890 its simple

Haha, best reply to Mario26JT ever, you are my favorite poster on this thread.

Call me skeptic, but I never trust VR-Zone news (or any other kind of articles that are prone to bias), it's that little something that always seems to belittle ATi products in their articles that I'm not buying.

Also, if you ask me... the whole "GTX275" popping out of nowhere seems a bit fishy, it almost brings new proof to the ATi/nVidia conspiracy theories...

Yeah... and the shader clock can't be that low, can it? (it might be because it's offset by the higher shader "cores" count...) I think they mixed the shader clock with the memory clock when they wrote these "news"...

I can't wait to see the 275 crushing the 4890.

Hi, Mario...same stupid remarks as always?Thought you borowed some neurons... looks like i've heard wrong.
Let's leave stupid fanboism aside.

ATI's strategy is price/performance.nVIDIA can't do anything just to look back in anger with the GTX200 series. If the sayings are true and GTX 260 is sold with a loss in accountancy and the new 4890 will take 4870 place(in price) with let's say 13% better performance, then nVIDIA is very screwed.ATI can afford to drop prices and still to have some profit...but nVIDIA is already selling in loss.
They are bleeding money... with a new card priced like the old ones(4890 and 4870)..and the old ones with the prices dropping... i can;t se a "green future" for nVIDIA, aspecially with the new anouncement made by Havok. Looks like PhysX will lose some market.
