This was expected. As i said before, the choice of GTX 295's gpu, would be the sensible thing for Nvidia to do and hopefully they've done it. It will be a nice card indeed.

Now let's see what happens in the battle 4890 vs GTX 275!

I am still a little puzzled by Nvidia's product positioning.

Officially the 4870 competes with the GTX260 but in some situations it is right up there with the GTX280.

With the 4890, we are going to see GTX280 or better performance and there is no way Nvidia will allow the GTX275 to outperform the GTX280/285 because it is a lower end product.

So where does that leave the GTX275?

Well GTX 275's weakness is it's memory: 14% less of it and 8.5% smaller bandwidht compared to GTX 280. So in higher resolutions and settings GTX 280 should get ahead.

Factory overclocked version + 1792MB vram version would beat GTX 280 easily.

This card, I think, depending on how it is priced may be the best buy for overclockers. Should be easy to get this up to 285 speeds depending on your brands choice of memory. Have to see how well the 4890 does. April should be interesting month at least.

from these specs i can say that this card is gonna be faster than GTX280 and a little bit slower than GTX285 which is tha same GTX280 but 50MHz overclocked.thats been said i think this GTX275 is gonna be at the same level of performance of the 4870.

If GTX275 is faster than GTX280 and GTX275 is at same performance level as HD4870..then HD4870 > GTX280 according to you?

The GTX275 is an handicapped core compared to GTX285, clock for clock, it still going to be slower.

GTX260 is already faster than the HD4870...then GTX260 > GTX275 according to you?

Overall, from what I've seen thus far, the 4890 will utterly destroy gtx 275, they are not competing on the same level (saying that would be equivalent to saying that a 4850 is better than a gtx 260).

Let's wait for real reviews. According to specs GTX 260 -> GTX 275 should be bigger "jump" than HD4870 -> HD4890.

GTX 260 216sp-> GTX 275
-Shader performance 25% up
-TMU performance 22% up
-Memory bandwidht 16% up

HD4870 -> HD4970
-Shader&TMU performance up 13%
-Memory bandwidht up 10%

The core will be the same... only difference is the 64bit less memory bandwidth, and 75$ less price.
