it kinda is... remember 40nm is said to be somewhat leaky, so die area is the only benefit for some time. Also, this is only reference card, I'm sure vendors will offer variety of coolers...

While Nvidia continues to offer competitive products and in some instaces superior offerings, it is amazing to see how the tables are turning...or should I say have turned. AMD's aggressive pricing has put a squeeze on Nvidia who is bleeding badly. The company continues to "please" their customers via competitive prices (as opposed to gauging) and has now secured a substantial fan base because of its "honesty" (whether perceived or true) and drive towards innovation. I think Nvidia left a bad sour taste in the mouth of its even most loyal fanbase after the company milked the 9800 (if I remember correctly) for almost two years (while ATI slipped). These PR guys at Nvidia must be really something. I think they underestimate the knowledge of their consumer base (hence the rebranding) and the instanteneous spread of information courtesy of the www (which in turn has turned their PR efforts in alienating customers). It's interesting reading articles about these companies to see how the dynamic business environment and information availability affects business functions/revenue and builds or destroys competitive advantages. What is even more interesting is how Ati's success ($$$) will help jump start their CPU division. Let's wait and see what happens.

I'm personally a big fan of dual-slot coolers; all of the hot air from the graphics card gets exhausted out the back of your case. But like weepy123 said, I'm sure that ATI's partners will offer a variety of different cooling solutions. Maybe Sapphire will bring back the single-slot Vapor-X chamber from their Radeon HD 3870 card. It is also safe to assume that the Radeon HD 4750 card (lower core clock and GDDR3 memory) will come standard with a single-slot heatsink.

"Tables turning" - Uhmm, where have you been? The rv770 was released in july (so since july ATI has been generally superior), that's a long while to lie inside of a cave.
"Ati's success ($$$) will help jump start their CPU division" - no, CPU's are much more complex than GPU's and occupy a much larger market. The profit afforded by selling those graphics cards is negligeable.
