Dell losing millions on $15 19" monitors snakeoil Jul 7th, 09, 01:29 PM #1

''An employee at Dell Taiwan probably made the biggest mistake of his life when he posted an ad for a 19" monitor for only 500NTD (15USD) at Dell's website. The ad was up for 8 hours and during this time 26,000 customers ordered over 140,000 monitors, real worth over 20 million USD. What could have just been a clumsy mistake could end up costing Dell millions as the Taiwanese authorities stepped in. ''

DELL must honor the price.

I remember reading somewhere that some company don't honor the "wrong'y" stated price on their online portal.
IMO, why should I care? It's their problem, not mine.

There's no such thing as MUST HONOR the price

HP also made such mistakes before and they didn't do it....so why should anyone else do it?

I think they do offer those customers some form of discount voucher for this incident, but expect a lot of order cancellation.

These guys are really smart one lah, they will put a lot of disclaimers on their website to cover their asses.

Imagine how the guy who made the mistake feels, must be terrified.

Yeah my friend also once found dell 27 inch for like half the actual price (probably a mistake), and then they call him and say out of stock and to cancel order...

This deal must be honored at all costs. It is the company's fault, not the customer's.

All this has done a lot of advertisement for Dell. It has been discussed even in my country's local forums. If they are not forced to honor the deal, next time, Asus will make the same "mistake", then MSI and so on. Don't play with us you corporate btards!

Deal only needs to be honoured if required by consumer laws of that particular nation. Too bad Singapore got zilch consumer protection laws. Good luck trying to get that cheap$ monitor.
