This is so uncool. Renaming game is starting to get a little overboard here. From 8800GT to 9800GT and now GTS240 which is just an overclocked variant. I hope the next name won't be GTS330 or some crap like that.

Well i can already predict the future for this glorious chip. next year this becomes gt 330 for mainstream. And the year after gt 405 for entry level. Then in 2016 it gets die shrunk to 16nm, oc another 5% and goes into next generation console ps4 for $2 a piece. Sony to rename it as rsx92?

Good, Nvidia's renew effort to piss more people off...

Which clown would be happy to find out that the GTS240/GTS250 is the same graphic card that they have bought 2/3 years back...

why would they be pissed? if you remember the original 8000gt launched with a price over $199 thats on the performance market now as a gts240 (for oems) they could be selling each for $80 at that price is between entry level and mainstream.(well of course oems resell it to customers at a higher price). Now what i mean a person that bought a card for $200 2 years ago wont go buy a $80 card specting to have a better performance than his 2 years old card.

I dont see rebadge as a bad thing, as long as they market it at a lower market segment it should be ok. I would be pissed if i found that i paid $200 for "my new shinny card" and found that its the same card i bought 2 years ago for $200.

Read my post again... same card that they already had. If Nvidia has no intention to fool people, just reduce their 8800GT price would do wonder to their sales.

Nvidia's product is ok, just their company policy and tactic suck!!

Err, so what's the problem? They rebrand the card, sell at today's market price... everyone is happy what?

Nvbot just don't see where their own long term self-interest is... Treating a old tech and resell it as new tech is zero innovation at best and if someone happen to buy a shiny GTS240 to replace their working 8800GT will be piss to learn that its the same card at worst...

Nevertheless, such company's tactic and behavior should not be rewarded with sales... That's why i am letting more people know to discourage Nvidia's sleazy behavior...
