But...to make use of all these available executing units simultaneously
"parallelism", is not only affected by the internal GPU architecture, but also by the applications, and how well they are optimized for such a huge parallel processor.

this would be a good time to quote your post from 1-2 weeks ago in which you stated hd5870 would be twice as fast as hd4870 - basically contradicting what you just said. i think i'll spare you the humiliation

I predicted "didn't state" for the 5870 to double the performance, and in some game it does.Like my extremely beloved game, Arma 2.
Here, take a look:

The 5870 on Very High setts with normal aa beats the gtx285 on normal setts with no aa and much shorter visibility.

The 5870's performance is around that of the 4870x2/gtx295, according to bit-tech, or hardwarecanucks...and i expect the gap between the 5870 and the 4890 to increase once: The new DX11 games that are probably written to make use of all that power to arrive, and the drivers mature...

Anyways, the card is a solid performer. It's on par or faster than the dual GPU cards, as you can see.And i believe that it will double the performance of the 4890 and even surpass it once it gets better utilized with the new drivers and the upcoming games...

I find it very funny that you are using HardOCP since it is a "n-shtitia" biased site with charts that are "absolutely absurd". Citing a source to support your claim that you bashed in the past for the same reason only exposes your bias.

Unfortunately for me, this was the only Arma2 bench i found, and as you can see, i have posted some other charts from anandtech....
And Yes.The site is not only extremely biased for Nvidia, but also uses some shitty benching methods and charts.

There is absolutely no point even arguing with an idiot like konstantine with regards to anything relating to video cards. IT IS quite clear that he is very emotionally invested in this subject due to nVidia killing his father and raping his mother (and possibly drop kicking the family poodle). He also has a recurring habit of contradicting himself time and time again when trying to make a scientific observation which is poorly supported by wild speculation and blatant lies.

Even when ATI does produce a decent product he cant be happy. And I hate to break it to you konstantine, while you accuse just about every site of being biased against ATI, your two favourite sources X-Bit and Anand are self confessed blatant ATI supporters (hence quite a lot of bias in their reviews).

A word of advice is STFU and stop crying all the time, if you like the hardware so much then you are free to buy it.

Also you fail to see that variations in review results is due to differing test methodologies, drivers, hardware test platforms, operating systems and a million possible other variables.

Any news on when the 5850 reviews will show up? Or how the cooler looks like without the bonnet?

4770 is only pathetic when I am running Crysis, my 2 copies of Crysis is gathering dust waiting for a worthy GPU to run at its DX10 full glory.

otherwise an amazing card for its relatively low price, a good temporary replacement for my faulty 8800 card.
