M1 to offer iPhones to customers later this year

SINGAPORE: Singapore's MobileOne Ltd (M1) said on Tuesday it has reached an agreement with US computing giant Apple to sell the iconic iPhone to customers later this year.

However, the telecommunications firm said that information on pricing, tariffs and availability dates will be released later.

"M1 and Apple have reached an agreement to bring iPhone to customers in Singapore later this year," the Singapore company said in a statement.

"M1 looks forward to offering iPhone and a range of tailored service plans to customers in Singapore."

Rival company Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) began offering Apple's third generation network iPhones late last year.

Thats great! The monopoly has gone on long enough. Interested to see if this would lower the price of the iphone in SG.

1 - Singapore mobile market already saturated with actual iphone users.
Those who really want it has already gotten it regardless of which telco they belong to.

2 - Apple knows that if it sticks to one operator per country, its share would probably stay stagnant

3 - Singtel did not lose monopoly (Point 2)

4 - Starhub is screwed, loss of EPL and no iphone in sight.

5 - M1 comes with funny prices for iphone, they are prolly screwed as well.
