AMD will be offering new board spec to AIBs including Dual Cypress XT ultra low leakage GPU’s. One of the first models will be Asus ROG ARES which will feature 850MHz core clock, 1200MHz memory clock and 4GB of GDDR5. Asus ROG ARES thermal specification includes 100mm wide fan, 32mm thick, 600% higher air-flow, 100% pure copper and 8 ultra-wide heat-pipes. Also the noise level should be significantly lower @ 4200rpm; ARES 37dB; ref hemlock; 44,5dB.

Asus says performance in 3DMark Vantage Extreme-preset is ~28% better than ATI Radeon HD 5970 reference design.

Asus ROG ARES will be Limited Edition and on display at Cebit.

PS. Real pics of PCB & cooling solution coming tomorrow, stay tuned.

It looks like a more colorful version of Battlefield Galactica.

AMD = All Must Die!!!
This time round they chiong head to head with Intel & Nvidia ^^
And this means consumer WINS!

AMD stronger = Intel Price CUT!
ATI stronger = Nvidia Price CUT!

In the end?
We consumer = buy parts cheaper ^^!

Doesn't sound like an "answer" there. You could indefinitely improve current generation hardware performance by engineering out of power specifications, up to a point it becomes impractical.

Lol, and you are a Nvidia Troll

I dont care ATI or Nvidia, which company has most value for money product I will purchase =)
If ATI pricing is overboard I'll buy Nvidia.

BOTTOM LINE IS .... PRICE vs PERFORMANCE

Nvidia is too EX now =P, I rather spend on better processor to pair with ATI 5850
Better mobo will do fine too.

I agree. I do feel that AMD is going to release a refresh based on current hardwares, but tweaked just like what they did to HD4890. Higher clockspeed and such with lower load power. I think this is still not the best solution, but clearly, its going to be better than just having AIB to design their own highly clocked cards that is going to suck tonnes of power.

This card is meaningless.

Get two 5850s, pair them in CFX, use them at default clocks for most situations and when you need the max for a couple of games, overclock them to 1Ghz and be done with it. You'll get the same performance as the Ares with quite possibly 2/3 of the money.

Oh you get to disable crossfire when it is not needed or when it creates problems.
