SHE said he promised her the US$2.4million ($3.3m) home on Long Island, New York.
He disagreed.
Now, the house is gone, burnt to a cinder last Friday in a 45-minute blaze that a local fire chief deemed 'suspicious'.
The multimillion-dollar mansion in question was at the centre of a dispute between Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent and his former girlfriend Ms Shaniqua Tompkins.
Earlier this year, Ms Tompkins filed against 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, claiming he had promised her the house more than a decade ago but now wants to evict her and their 10-year-old son after their breakup.
The blaze occurred just days after a heated confrontation in Ms Tompkin's lawyer's office.
50 Cent does not live in the home and apparently wasn't there at the time.
Six people inside the home were taken to a hospital suffering smoke inhalation, including Ms Tompkins and 50 Cent's son.
All six were treated and released.
A firefighter also suffered a minor eye injury, officials said.
Ms Tompkins' lawyer said the dispute over the house had become 'extremely contentious' in recent days.
CONCERNED
He said the case was back on the calendar in state Supreme Court in Manhattan on 10 Jun .
In a statement, 50 Cent said he was concerned about the fire but thankful that no one was hurt.
The statement added that 'he is confident that authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and is eager to review their findings'.
