SEREMBAN: A religious teacher was arrested in Nilai near here for allegedly raping one of his students.

The 14-year-old girl is now three months' pregnant.

It is understood that the girl lodged a report against the man last week, when she went to a clinic and was confirmed to be pregnant. The girl claimed she was raped at 6pm on Dec 9 after class. State police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said the man was picked up at his home in Nilai after the victim lodged the report.

"The victim claimed that the man had invited her to go to a nearby pasar malam after her religious class. When they returned to the man's house, she claimed he raped her," he said at the state-level Zero Crime Week held in SMK King George V here yesterday.

Osman said initial investigations revealed that the suspect could be a bogus religious teacher as he did not have valid credentials.
