Customising 800x480 Resolution For Games Visionary Dec 3rd, 07, 01:57 PM #1 (permalink)
For WarCraft III / DOTA

Click the image to open in full size.

Set cinemaheight to 480

For Quake 3 Arena

Click the image to open in full size.

Open Q3 config file, set r-customheight to 480 and r_mode to -1

Here are some examples how you can hack the registry or config file to support 800x480 resolution on Eee PC. If you get it to work for other games, please share yours too.

ya lor ...800x480 is already very good what...playable at least.

I think most games with 640 x 480 resolutions would run just fine. I tried Starcraft Broodwar the other day and it works at 640x 480, but the right side got this black bar...dunno if you can change the gameplay to wide screen (havent tried yet)

The custom driver have issue when the notebook recover from sleep mode. Another method is to follow this thread http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=7562&p=1 to build a "dummy VGA" plug and trick the video driver to think that there is a monitor attached. This mean that eeepc can be set to clone mode, meaning we can get 640x480 stretched with the standard driver.

I just installed Puzzle Quest PC. It runs rather well, even without overclocking - the default rez is 800X600, which turns the display into 800X480 scroll, full screen only.

What a shame that the eeePC can't do 1024*600 like the Kohjinsha can. If I had that resolution option I could run a lot of things windowed (my pref) instead of full screen.
