Anyone use Map window before? zlander Jan 12th, 08, 12:30 AM #1 (permalink)
I have recently install map window (open source GIS software) on my eee and somehow it is very slow at labelling layers. Anyone else has use map window before? I'm using ESRI Arc view in office and i don't experience so much lag on the Pentium IV PC at work.

On the other hand, I'm running a 3D software in eee and is much faster than when i use on my work desktop.

I have just installed google earth today and it runs very smoothly.

It's more of a software for mapping. Think it doesn't support GPS at the moment. It very similar to ESRI Arc info / Editor.

Video on Map Window vs Google Earth zlander Jan 14th, 08, 12:33 AM #4 (permalink)
I have just completed my first two video capturing on my eee. Here's the link to the demo on the two software. Imho these two applicationa are very different. Map window is capable of viewing 3D layers like google map, just have to download the satalite layers. However Map Window is more like a GIS viewer capable of viewing deodatabase and may have editing functon (i'm still new in it need to explore more 1st).

Also as stated i have never done video editing before, so these are raw files (direct video capturing from eee desktop using camstudio - desktop video capturing freeware i found googling). Note the downside using this software is it dramatically slows down the loading of both applications.

Here are the links
