Yeah man, that seems like my best bet.....but one of my friend bought it recently, went to Auzzie to study and one fine day the laptop "ki siao" all the fans all went full blast and the lappie became very hot. After a little while, whole laptop couldn't even boot. Needed to bring it to service center after that.

Hope his is a isolated case.

but u don't know what he did to his lappy right? normally, if u don't bump it too much, no problems will occur. a normal gateway lappy can use for like 5 years then go ki siao.

oh. if u buying lappy to go overseas to study, best to buy liao then go and buy international warranty.

my bet will still be the 128MB R9700.

Anyway for graphics card, get the X700.. that is one of the most powerful card in moblie.

btw y not u take a look at the acer TM 8100 series or the 1692. If u have $$$, the ferrari 4000 not only looks good but the specs are also... :shock2:

both the 8100 series and the 1692 r powered by the 915PM chipset (sonoma).

The acer TM 8104 is priced at ard 3.5K.. powered by 2Ghz chip, 1Ghz DDR2 rams and of course the X700 128mb Gfx card.
http://www.acer.com.sg/products/trav...elmate8100.asp
The Ferrari 4000 is priced at ard 4K... powered by AMD64 2Ghz chip... all the specs same as the 8104.
http://www.acer.com.sg/products/ferr...errari4000.asp

anyway i am looking 2 buy the 8104.
