Dell Precision 490 does not power up centus0927 Oct 27th, 09, 05:35 AM #1 (permalink)
I have had a Dell Precision 490 for a couple of years and it has served me well as software development machine. 2 months ago when I travelled overseas I unplugged the unit and stored it in the closet. On my arival last week I reconected the computer, but it would not power up at all. When I connected the power cord I heard a sharp click, as when tripping a disjunctor, and then nothing. No indicator lights, and of course no power on the machine. I have confirmed that I have power all the way to the entrance to the power supply.

Does anyone know if the 490 has fuses or disjunctors that could have tripped? Otherwise, I fear the power supply is gone, although there was no harsh smell when I opened the side door to look into the unit.

Any help will be appreciated
