Depends what netbook you have, on my Mini 311c CS4 runs fine as it has GPU acceleration.

On a netbook using Intel graphics you may want to stick to CS2, I've found it's considerably easier to run.

It gets harder every year, to find excuses that will keep me in the clear.

With Intel 945 graphics and Atom, you'd want to stay with Paint.net. It's not too bad actually. If you're into drawing and painting a good one to use is ArtRage.

@Raiken how is the Nvidia Ion LE? I read it only handles up to DirectX 9.

i have MacOS Leopard installed on my MSi Wind and PS CS4. Despite a good responsiveness of the program I found major problems due to 1024x600 resolution

I guess netbook cannot support photoshop cs series. It consumes machine's resources especially CS4

I installed Photoshop CS3 on my HP Mini 2133. With only 1 GB Ram. Able to do simple photo editing without any issue. Not laggy at all. The netbook is running Windows XP Pro btw.
