Hi all,

I am considering a acer notebook for gaming and work. Budget is around 2.5-2.7k.

Does not need to be wide screen and so on.

Consider the 5673 which is dual core and wondering is the performance better than the single core processors, but seems like the current single core notebooks can be even more exp.

Anywhere that can offer the best price now? Seems like Harvey can give a good price with their harvey card and GSS, 6% of the purchase is a lot leh.

Get Core Duo rather than Core Solo as price difference is very low and you're better off with one more core. If you wanna save even more battery, you can turn off one of the cores.

notebooks i'd recommend getting from major retailers instead of sim lim shops as they provide better after sales support and such. SLS lappie shops give me a rather bad impression.

Yeah Harvey is good and definitely get the core duo without a doubt.

From what i see at these shops like HN or courts, you see the newspapers or what each shop has got to offer u. Cos they always have promos. In fact as long as their shop is around sure got something on promotion one but its for certain models. So u see the newspaper ads they will state how long is the promo which normally includes free stuff like wireless mouse etc.

Buying laptop from these shops is good as they won't cheat u and they will sell it at the retail price unless they discount like first 5 sets only that kind of thing.

But u try out by yourself as the salespeople there do everything from plasma tv to laptop so they might not be that knowledgable. They will know the basic features which will be listed there lor.
Also clarify about the LCD warranty is how one when u r buying... Then u can go there and try out physcially of how the model looks like as well as the heat. Cos they on whole day one so u see if its hot or not. But once again note that its switched on whole day under air con environment. So if u not using your laptop in air con everyday then u see if the temperature is right for u.

did u try "BIG" at harbourfront? bought my acer for $980. But prob not so high performance as your specs. It's the TravelMate 2424.

I thought they last time sell $999 u bargain ar? Not bad leh they sell slightly cheaper... How about mc2 ar? They just open shop in SLS.

mc2 is another major store coming up in terms of notebook sales..can see that they are slowly picking up liao..
