OC help plx!! Masternoob Sep 2nd, 03, 12:34 PM #1 (permalink)
I just bought this 2500+ Barton yesterday and i put it in a Epox 8rda+..

My system spec
AMD XP Athlon 2500+ Barton (code AQXEA)
Epox 8rda+ nforce2 ultra edition 400 FSB
noname 256 MB pc 2700 (333mhz) in bios i set by SPD i have put in DIMM 3
2 WD 120gb 8 mb cache special edition
1 Maxtor 80gb 2mb cache
550w power supply
geforce 4 ti 4800 8x grafik

THe default 2500+ is 11x166 is 1826 Mhz
I raise the FBS too 200 so i got 11x200 is 2200 Mhz
Vcore and Vdimm is running at stock volltage

But after i read Grace OC guide for newbie she/he wrote that it

if you wish/try to raise the FSB to 200, you’ll need at least Pc3200 (DDR400) memory to be safe about that, else the memory might not handle the overclock.

i run this OC computer yesteday for 3 hours run 3dmark2001 a couple of time i see no crashing or system instability but maybe it will happen later,, should i go too the shop right away and buy this Pc 3200 (400ddr)??

The Cpu temp is 47 when idle and 52 when load is this ok?
I have this CPU cooler from my old mainboard Spire WhisperRock III --http://www.spirecooler.com/asp/fcc.asp?ProdID=73--

(And thanks Grace the board is pass like u said so i got the new board from the shop!!now i can get CPU temp)

its not necesasary to buy a new ram
just set ur ram to sync with ur fsb like 3/3.5/5,6/6 and see wherether ur ram can stay at the 200mhz ddr400 or not f cant then raise some vdimm for it
try to increase it by 5mhz per step until ur ram cannot stay about it
then raise vdimm or relax ur ram timmming
like mine i also using kingstone value ram ddr333 but i ca run it for ddr441 for now with 2.8v and 4/3/2/2.0 timming
ok?

Not very familiar with the 8rda+ BIOS but if your running at 200fsb your memory is probably doing the same thing already (ddr400).

In theory, running your memory faster than spec but at stock voltages (or even slightly raised ones) won't do it any harm at all.

In short :-

If it runs at 200fsb (ddr400) sit back and enjoy that smug feeling knowing you saved a few pounds/dollars
