Need some opinion... mintv123456 May 5th, 07, 11:51 AM #1 (permalink)
1)Lets say I have a CPU with a default multi of 11 and lets say it can clock to 2750MHZ...
2)I got a Ram that can hit 275mhz.
3)Which of the option should i choose? Which 1 give a better performance.
4)I dun need to get the best mhz vs price ratio out of it but i would rather get the best performance vs price ratio out of it

Options
A)Keep Multi at 11, set FSB at 250mhz to get CPU speed of 2750mhz and ram speed of 250mhz

B)Drop Multi to 10, set FSB at 275mhz to get CPU speed of 2750mhz and ram speed of 275mhz

I heard that dropping multi = reduce bandwidth = reduce performance is it true?

timin of ram @ each speed? if they are d same, i wud rather go for higher mhz for d ram, since clock speed is outta d equation. btw, mind sharin wat kinda ram, chip & board ur usin?

Its crucial pc4000/500. the ram is meant to run at 250mhz at 3-4-4-8 i am not sure wat timing it will run with 275mhz.

using Crucial Ballistix PC4000/500 Micron -5B D 2 x 1gb
abit kn8 ultra

wat u mean u would rather go for higher mhz for the ram?

the drop multi think is bad for c2d cpus... something to do with the mobo chipset that reduces bandwidth.... amd on the other hand, u get a performance increase...
