Ram speed vs HTT speed snip3r Feb 23rd, 05, 11:41 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi guys,

Any significant for these 2 configurations
1) 2000mhz, HTT 200, memory 1:1, multiplier 10
2) 2000mhz, HTT 200, memory 1:2, multliplier 10

Wanted to know if it is justified to spend a good amount on premium memory?

Thanks

memory 1:2? Is there such a divider on your board?
But in reply to your question, yes, there is a noticable difference if you run your memory like 30-40 Mhz more keeping the rest unchanged.

paiseh

I was saying if HTT is running at 300mhz and ram at 200mhz =)
compare to HTT @ 300mhz and ram @ 300mhz

is the difference huge?

ram shud as far as possible be kept as close to the HTT as possible... esp on AMD cpus, 1:1 is always recommended unless ur ram cannot go as high as ur HTT can, in which most of the time we have to use the dividers... but the HTT increase will compensate for the use of dividers most of the time, so having ram at 300 which is the same as HTT is very much faster than having it at 200...

Nope, no offence papmech, I dont agree with that, 1:1 or not doesn't matter as long as your ram is truly running at the highest speed possible. If you are able to run it higher than your HTT, be sure to do that, this is not like the AMD XPs where higher ram doesn't benefit/ even harm.
