Silent Water Cooling rickbath Jan 7th, 08, 01:57 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi Folks,

I have recently been interested in watercooling. Have checked around
and alot of those pumps cost like 150++ I need a silent one. Anywhere where i can get something cheap and silent. Kindly advise which brands
or is there any shop in sg having a range of WC stuff.

Also, roughly how much could i get one. Not looking at getting those water cooling kits as have read some reviews and dont seem too good.
How often do i need to change the water / tubing. Whats the cost of those type of coolants which does not damage my hw in the case of a leak..

i actually was gonna post up a complete custom cooling set for sale... got the 1200 l/h oem pump that was very popular before the mcp655/d5came out... are u interested?... got radiator and waterblock and coolent as well... pm me if your interested...

btw, the mcp 655 revision 1 pump has a speed control and even though the new ones do not have it, its still pretty silent at full speed... more noisy would be the fans...

Silence is subjective but IMO, the silent pumps are MCP350 and D-Tek DB-1 (aka Danger Den DD-CPX1).

MCP655-B is audible (not silent but wouldn't call it noisy) and MCP355 is just plain noisy.

mcp350 and 355 have had issues of high failure rates... wouldn recommend them even though they are silent...

Not really. They sell a lot so naturally there are more failures. Also some of the failures are user-related as they mounted the pump upside down.

Got a 350 here. 2nd hand and still going very strong. Runs near silent too.

Yeah, between 350 and 355, a Swiftech rep did admit at XS that 355 has higher failure rate due to its higher operating rate but overall failure rate is still acceptably low (in terms of %).

MCP 655 is a top seller here bcos S'poreans like their stuff BIG even though lots of tests have confirmed that the performance diff between 3/8 ID vs 1/2 ID is negligible.

Technical specifications

Nominal voltage 12 V DC

Maximum head 10 ft (3.1 m)

Maximum discharge ~ 317 GPH (1200 LPH)

Connection size ½" barbs

Electrical connector Molex 4 pin

Weight 1.4 LB (650 gr.)

it's lower...but i would bet the head pressure might be close and the size and noise would be much less

Current Watercooling with:
TJ07, Dtek V2 CPU block, Dtek V2 GPU block, EK NB/SB 5 block on NB, Swiftech MCW30 block on SB, Koolance MVR-40 VReg blocks x 02, Swiftech Micro Reservoir, Thermochill PA120.3 Rad, Swiftech MCP655 Vario pump with EK D5 X-Top, Bitspower Temperature probe x 02, PrimoFlex Pro LRT Tubings, Primochill Anti-Kink Coils Black, PC ICE Coolant
