Please recommend a good RAM to me. EXP Apr 6th, 05, 01:21 AM #1 (permalink)
I want to get 2x512MB DDR400. Either CL 2.5 or 2.0. What does ECC do? Is it better to get ECC or non ECC? I am thinking of getting this:
http://www.twinmos.com.sg/ebuy/prodV...p?idproduct=57

Is it good? Or are there any better ones? Please recommend a good one to me. :happy3:

I think ecc stands for error checking correction. It's mainly used for server and it's more exp than non-ecc. Desktop or home users usually don't used ecc ram and I don't think it's necessary too.

But are you into serious overclocking? Coz good rams with low cas are not cheap like a kit of 512mb can easily cost up to $400-500. Even kingston hynix cl3 can be overclocked quite well and they are affordable to everyone less than $200. Well let's leave the ram recommendation to the pros here *run away* :sad5:

Dont get ECC, unless u runing a server, its not gonna be faster and more ex
You can also go for Twinmos speed premium range, quite good for overclocking.

would the TCCD be better for 24/7 setup or the Twinmos?
I mean if i don't plan to give my Twinmos over 3.2V of power....and i have a 120MM fan blowing.

If able and willing for 3.2V+, twinmos SP's nice
If <3.2v TCCD is my choice

would u be overclocking heavily? if you're not you might always want to get cheaper rams, and now wif the ram war pricing is falling like rain...

159 is very cheap for 2x512 already... ram prices might go up anytime so now is a good time... anyone confirm this?
