Ram Voltage? SGP Aug 4th, 05, 05:15 AM #1 (permalink)
hmmm, just a question probably asked before. - How high can I push the voltage on an unspecified RAM? at current it's 2.9V, with a heatspreader, and virtually cold (actively cooled); Provided the ram Is cooled very well, is it safe enough, to go higher? (highest I can do is 3.3V). I can live with the fact the ram's would have a shorter life-span, so long as it isn't a few days long.

Thanks in advance for any input given.

I suppose it best you determine the chipset. =) Other than WInbond chipsets, I dun think other modules like high voltages.. =)

haha ya i dun see why u might wanna go higher except for winbond and certain others.. higher voltage dun mean it going to go any higher! but yes u may try pushing it further...

just try the overclocking as you go higher than 2.9v, if it clocks better then just do it, even 3.3v is fine

I second that. My Kingston value RAM hynix DT D43 can go to 260Mhz (1T) at 3.5vdimm without errors in memtest # test 5. But It will failed my 3D Mark 2003 and 2005. It run SuperPi 1 million and sisoftsandra successful. If on 2.8vdimm, the most is only 240Mhz (1T). But anything beyond 3.5vdimm will not help in increasing the oc.
