ELSA Plans 9500GT PCIe x1 Card

ELSA has a neat little PCI Express x1 graphics card based on GeForce 9500 GT GPU clocked at 550MHz core, 1375MHz shader and 1400MHz memory. Previously, we saw several graphics card makers coming out with PCIe x1 solution and it proves pretty popular among some users who lack a x16 slot most often in a SFF or HTPC environment. So far, we have seen Galaxy coming out with 7300 GT, Sparkle with 8400 GS and PNY with Quadro NVS 420.

You don't need to wait for them to release one:

I make my own with a dremel tool or grinder. (note that the +12v for the memory power supply did get cut, I re-attached to the unused fan +12v.)

That card has been working for over a year

I would much prefer a full size card on a 90° riser instead: GA630 PCI-E Riser Card

Safer to cut to a x1 slot as well.

(Edit to put in link and pictures)

Wow, right from Shamino !!

I was pretty bummed out when it wouldn't work, so I measured the Vmem and it was 0v, so I hooked an energizer Lithium 1.7v battery to the Mem capacitor and it would work!

Then I figured that the Vmem power needed some voltage, so I tried 3.3v and then 5 v, and then connected 12v from a molex, and it worked!!

Something missing?

Oops! It still works though.

I also used your guides to learn how to overclock it

3dmark01 went from 5376 to 7835 with some resistor shading:

Although I really did it for the TV-Out and the extra monitor ports, not gaming, obviously.

a 9500 GT using PCIe 1x is a nice option for those who need to drive more monitors without resorting to PCI Video Cards.
