Overclocking 3000+ 0601 d23 Feb 2nd, 06, 03:17 AM #1 (permalink)
Well I know it's a little late but, who says 0601 can't overclock well?

Click the image to open in full size.

Completed OCCT 30 minutes test, but I have no idea why I got this error. Also, CPU-Z reports the Vcore as 1.45, when ASUS probe reports it at 1.65v. It is most likely that 1.65vcore is the accurate vcore. This overclock was done on ASUS A8N32-Sli Deluxe. I'm pretty damn sure this CPU has at least 10-20HTT more OC headroom at its current Vcore, but I don't wanna push my luck.

1 thing very strange is that this chip runs HOT! 48C on load with scythe ninja and 1600RPM 120mm fan in Air-conditioned environment. Highly suspect its a bad mount because before I turned on the air-conditioning, it was doing 52C with 285HTT (very warm night). I guess if I want to sell this off or run it stably I would have to remount it very soon.

you might want to refresh cpuz to see if the Vcore changes. sometimes my Cpuz shows inaccurate information the first time it pops up.

intresting, 1.65V @ 300HTT, not too bad at all.

Yeah I agree the 0601 does clock pretty well. My chip can easily do 285HTT at default vcore. Higher vcore can push it to about 310HTT. It runs a bit hot too, about 43c idle (default vcore) with stock HSF. Maybe I didn't mount it properly too, but didn't try to remount it. Do I have to get a new thermal pad when I do a remount?

The NBBWE seems to have a default Vcore of 1.45V?

I tried clocking one of these 0601, and managed 270HTT at that Vcore.. My board doesn't allow Vcore adjustments.

but no $$ to play with cpu liao

i think cpuz doesnt read the x16 sli board's voltages properly, same like on the MSI K8 Diamond. I suppose you set voltage to 1.65v in BIOS? That may explain your high temperature, usually people stick to 1.55v to 1.6v on air cooling.

safe. I up the vcore only during benchies as my venice is hungry of power. For daily usage, I keep at 1.6vcore. Btw, I have 10 delta fans blow over my rams, gpu and cpu:laugh5:

:shock2: so many fans! Can't imagine the noise when you overclock. I always need to play music when overclocking because its so boring to wait for the stress testing to finish so I don' think I can stand the extra noise (since I listen to classical )
