Estimate total dBA in a pc casing - VRForums - SITEX 2009

Hi guys,

Just curious.

If you have say 6 x fans. 2 of the fans have a dBA manufacturer printed value of 40dBA, 4 of them are 30dBA.

How to estimate the total dBA in the casing? Any theoretical method of calculating it?

30 + 2 + 2 + 2 still less than 40 dBA so the 4 fans can ignore. the 40 + 3 dBA since 2 fans so its estimated at 43 dBA from 1 meter open casing.

DBA is very subjective.

For me 10 delta at full blast still ok for me.

There is no perfect calculation on the dBA thingy. All measurement are for references. Because the one who is going to judge the noise level is ultimately you and not us. what we can tell u is from the measurement that is available. As of how 'true' is the dBA, it is all up to u

yea...clicking sound is gonna be more irritating than a humming sound at the same dBA

Very hard to gauge bro, cos all u get is prolly an estimate that runs off the actual by a fair bit.
Manufacturer's stats cant be applied on a real time environments cos basically everything they measure is in a controlled environment like AMCA standard chamber.
