First of all. This thread is only for Asus P45 series mobo.

Main purpose of creating this thread is to gather all the info on oc/discussion on Asus P45 series (Eaglelake) mobo. Members can also refer to this thread for easy reference instead of referring to different thread

As long as anything (OC, bug, problem and etc)to do with this Asus P45 series mobo, you all are welcome to post it here to share with the community.

Got my hands on Asus P5Q-E yesterday afternoon from SLS.

My initial results on FSB testing as most of us here already quite well informed about how well can this Asus 45 series mobo scale the CPU.

Testbed:

CPU: E8400 with Default HSF
Mobo: Asus P5Q-E (Bios 0506)
Memory: OCZ Repear Series PC9200 1gb x 2 kit
GPU: PCS HD3870 OC Version (Zerotherm Cooler)
HDD: IDE Hitachi 80gb 7200rpm
PSU: Vantec ION2 500 watt
OS: XP Pro SP2

Direct boot and load into OS

cpu@1.2vcore

CPU GTL Ref 0/2@Auto

560mhz x 6 direct boot and load into OS with FSB termination voltage at only 1.1volt(SONG BO??)


But....with another 5 more mhz increament I need to pump teh FSB terminsation voltage from 1.1v to 1.3volt=(

565mhzx6 direct boot and load into OS. Pi score is not as good as pic above as was running everest at the same time with Pi4 million. (Of course with all the background programme running)


I think I hit a hard wall after 565mhz FSB. Here is 566mhz x 6 after a few manually reset and curse and swaearing=)

566mhz x 6 direct boot and load into OS. Only managed to complete Pi 2 million. Pi 4 miilion will freeze half way=(

hahahah....Load into OS from 560mhz x 6 and then using setFsb to psuh to 580mhz. But Does not allow me to take screenie as it froze. So just took the pic with my camera because NPNT=)

nb....P5Q-E does not have this two option under Bios

1)CPU Clock Skew
2) NB Clock Skew
CPU clock skew is important for CPU oc....I am gg=(

edit: These two options can be found under Beta Bios 0702 for P5Q-E according to XS forum. Pls refer to post #230 by pmp

Note that 2 new options are added, CPU and NB clock skew. Set CPU to 400 ps and NB to 100 ps to get some extra FSB (play ofc with these settings).

Will try Bios 0702 and the setting above tonight. will report back here how my FSB goes

look likes this mobo is better than P5Q deluxe in OC. The 1st batch P45 chipset might have a problem.

I think it is CPU. Also reported in XS forum that one fo the members having hard time in OC his E7200

I've tested also on Q6600 and later switch over to E7200.
Really is a hard nuts to OC with P5Q deluxe, with many memories holes and bootstrap tested 266, 333 and 400. That's is bios 0506.
Not all went smoothly, 400 ok and 410 can't boot, 420 can boot and onwards, and switch to bootstrap 333 and OC, no boot at all.
Sometimes on post, enter delete to go into bios and it hang.
Now, there is new bios but my board gone liao.

haven actually done any clocking but I noticed when I changed to the P5Q Deluxe...my idle temps dropped 10C overall PC performance is much better too..less lag.

580mhz done

Direct boot and load into OS. Using nb strap 400
Last night flashed the bios to 0702 and viola. Extra mhz obtained. Setting CPU skew at 400 and nb skew at 100. These two options are available when flash the bios to 0702.

So for those having P5Q-E, P5Q-Dlx or P5Q3-Dlx, just flash yr Bios to 0702. Of course flash at yt own risk as it is Beta Bios

4ghz done easily too. vcore at 1.3volt. Should be able to go lower vcore. Just a test drive and see how overall system goes.

Er...no 3d benchies because I am very tired after few days ago tweaking my 790i chipset....now I am having panda eyes

No need whole setting. Some key settings will do you fine.

Above are my setting to achieve 580mhz. Those 3 settings in bold are essential for my case. Try to play around with it. And nb strap also important. nb strap at 400 give me more mhz as compared to 333 strap. As for memory-just set the primary timings. The rest of the secondary timings just leave it at AUTO first
