This 1.1v VID E0 Q820A599 claims an astonishing 4GHz@1.14-1.16v CM Gemini II 29C ambient, just 5 mins of Orthos fame though.

same batch

1st of 5x E8600 Q820A599 installed on Gigabyte EP45 Extreme with new F6H bios. VID = 1.25v and seems to be around 0.032v vdroop on Vcore under load.

who said E8600 were hot buggers ?

System:
  • E8600 Q820A599 2V8 / **5146
  • CPU Cooling: Dtek Fuzion Rad Tower Box
  • Gigabyte GA-EP45 Extreme rev 1.0 F6h bios
  • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 dual channel kit
  • Memory cooling: 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
  • 74GB Western Digital Raptor OS drive
  • Pioneer 215 DVD-RW
  • 1200W Silverstone OP1200
  • WinXP Pro SP2 Nlite Fully Updated.

Idle vs Load temps @4000Mhz 1.225v bios set vcore

Is the first vcore I loaded windows in to test, so haven't tried any other vcore settings yet.

Room ambient = ~20C
Powermate Wattage Meter = 142-151 Watts under Prime95 load

Thanks for your post.

Hmm, same batch but very diff. VID.

OK eva, you must go thru' quite a few CPUs in your testing so what is your personal current thinking on wafer no. and VID on the eventual o'cing performance of a chip - good correlation or 100% all luck still?

@Mac,

VID on core temp depends on mobo. Tried same cpu on 3 different brand of mobo and all 3 mobo gave me different VID under core temp.

Luck does matter. And I have no luck. =(

U should try it on MSI mobo. Maybe the sensor or the coding different as compared to other brand??

Anyway, if the CPU can clock, then it can clock. If cannot then it cannot. I doubt the lower vid in Core temp is a good indicator towards 'good chip'

vid should be core specific and got nothing to do with mobo unless u changed some bios setting which will alter the reading
