Hey Shrek, kindly post a screenie of your DFI ITE SmartGuardian settings too.

The Convergent guys would probably love to see the CPU-Z mobo page screenie, I guess.

thats for benching purpose. now trying to prime at 4g @ 1.45v load for 24/7

also the vid of 1.1v I told you might be wrong. The microcode for the cpu for my mobo still not updated. sometimes it will fall to 1.1 sometimes 1.25. very hard for me to oc cos of this.

erm, I think my Jr mobo also does not identify the CPU by its official model too. POST screen just says Quad 2 Core at 2.83GHz or something to that effect.

Doesn't CoreTemp 0.99.3 show a consistent load VID? Perhaps yours may be 1.25v load and the idle VID is 1.1.

nah it depends on boot. if it boots at 1.1v vid it stays there. very hard for me to oc as the vcore add is on top of vid. if i set 200mv, if it boots 1.1, my vcore is 1.3. if it boots 1.25 my vcore will be 1.45. but it usually stays the same unless i change something in bios

Open test rig with air cooling on the ancient TR XP90c for the time being, chicken clocking still in progress.

As said previously in my PM to you, I had to start afresh all over with a full CMOS clear as I was tinkering with 2 different sets of RAM - 2 x 2GB Twinmos and 2 x 1GB Tracers. Switching RAM probably complicated the o'cing attempts over my side.

For the benefit of other DFI owners, consider clearing CMOS and redo the settings if you run into quirky issues cos the RAM sub-timings are set/memorised after the 1st successful POST if left at Auto.

I was stuck at 400FSB tilll I did that, wasted 1 day wondering why. lol

heheh, quadcore clocking makes one's life so much more interesting compared to dualcores.

Anyway from my reading, what I find tough about clocking these 45nm are the so called safe voltage limits. Let's see if I got these right,

1. Vcore - going > 1.35v (anecdotal), 1.45v (?Intel's official spec) = higher risks of chip degradation
2. VTT - going > 1.35v (Intel's official spec) = higher risks of chip dying
3. SB PLL - going > 1.60v (anecdotal) = higher risks of chip dying
4. Drinking more than 3 cups of kopi a day blah blah blah... anymore?

Seems pretty restrictive guidelines but I am trying hard to stay within since I go strictly for 24/7 clocks.
