Real world no significant perfromance difference.

Figures wise, no much significant performance difference.

So, I would recommend go for i5 for those thinking of 'upgrde'

Actually there is no 'upgrade' from current LGA775 to i5 or i7. So just stick to yr current LGA775 or go for AMD quad which is much more cheaper than i5 or i7 platform

After playing with LGA775/1156/1366 and Phenom 2 550BE, I would still say for most users, the 550BE@quad makes the most sense - money wise as well as aesthetic wise in terms of power/heat/noise. The i5 750 I tested run surprisingly hot at both idle and load.

AMD FTW here.

i am just think theoretically , I7 has triple channel kit and higher QPI link speed so might just still be the best. However, the other processors got lower wattage so less heat released and easier to overclock.

Eh, don't kill your chip trying stunts chasing such scores. Think it is a LinX 0.6.2 occasional quirk.

Not fair to comment cos don't have proper i5 heatsink mounting brackets to do testing. But i5 seems to be a rather hot chip so far.
