done using AMD GPU Clock Tool v0.9.26.0 For HD 5870 which can be found at Guru3D. apparently, Afterburner was needed to max out the fan of the 5870 as the gpu clock tool will render the catalyst's overdrive useless.

Rig Setup:
Intel Core i7 965 @ 3.2Ghz (default spd)
Adata viesta ddr3 -1800+ 6GB (default spd)
Radeon HD 5870 1GB
Windows 7 64bit
WD caviar black 500GB


Test:
Resident Evil 5 Benchmark (fixed)
2560x1600 , 8x anti-aliasing



stock speed (850/1200)



overclocked speed (1001/1225)



approximately 9% increase in performance. stay tuned for the full review

Is there anyway to go further than 1.35volt for the core. I find it quite limited with only 1.35v max.

Hopefully all the hard mod will be found soon before I get one

from what i heard, the new drivers will allow, overdrive to clock the 5870 further then just 900mhz.

guess we will have to wait and see.

as for the volts, i am afraid so..

Theres sloppier way to do it. Use the Asus bios, then use Asus smart doctor for the voltages and msi afterbuner for the clocks. reaches 1.4-1.5v but then again its still a sloppy way to do it.

here's the funny thing. I setup a new run this time more oc on the CPU 215x21 and set my gpus default.

somehow, you don't need to oc much on the gpu as the cpu is holding it back. (IMO)

I think u are on Vista....If on XP Pro, yr cpu score should be more than 8200 at yr clock speed(4.5ghz).

the only drivers for xp are those that come with the CD. ati.amd.com doesnt have xp drivers for the 5870 ..those runs are on win7

I'm sure it'll go higher (volts/gpu/mems) with proper drivers and a better asus smart doctor
