Guide: How to overclock with Rivatuner 2.08 *Updated* farksy Jan 30th, 06, 11:52 PM 19 links from elsewhere to this Post. Click to view. #1 (permalink)
Irritated by those testing of your clock settings problems ?

Fear no more ! With this guide, i ensure no software restraints of your Overclocking for graphics cards !

Ok. After facing some irritance from the testing and limits of Rivatuner, I fooled around with Riva's Poweruser section in a bid to make graphics card overclocking less of a hassle. I don't know whether this has been posted or not, but i'll just post it. =D

With this, you have a limit-free clock frequency for setting, and no need to test for settings before you can apply them! Doesn't it sound great ?

Note: This might cause your graphics card to have artifacts. By reading this, you take full responsibility to any damages caused to your graphics card.

Note: I'm also using a nVidia Graphics card now, so for Ati users you can try but i won't guarantee success.

First things first. I hope you have overclocked your max speeds on your graphics card on a 'locked' Rivatuner. This will make sure it doesn't crash and gives us a rough benchmark to set the speeds.

Instructions

Next, open up Rivatuner.

Click the image to open in full size.

Go to the poweruser tab and ignore any warnings if any.

Click the image to open in full size.

Search for -> Rivatuner 2.08 \ OVERCLOCKING \ GLOBAL.

Click the image to open in full size.

Follow and set specified settings.

Click the image to open in full size.

Search for -> Rivatuner 2.0 RC 15.8 \ NVIDIA \ OVERCLOCKING.

Set specified settings.

Click the image to open in full size.

Walah ! There you have it ! Effortless overclocking !

I can't show screenies of the disabled clock test but i can show the difference in maxclock limit.

Before

Click the image to open in full size.

After

Click the image to open in full size.

If still not enough, change those values to above 100. Then from now, add 1-3Mhz on the core to test and memory. Once you can clearly detect artifacts, please revert the settings or risk damaging your card permernantly.

Addendum:

More Tweaks

Click the image to open in full size.

As suggested by Bliondi007.
Reset protection .... i haven't have a memory clock reset yet; so didn't have the need to do so. =P
Lowpower 3D control is what i really missed out. I could change performance 2D/3D but i can't set Lowpower3D.
Lastly EnablePerfLevelForcing i still don't know what that means, but if Bliondi put it, it must be important !

EnablePerfLevelForcing allows constant Perf3D mode so the card does not throttle down to 2D clocks in 2D mode.

This is all AFIAK so no guarantees

Unlocking the 6200

I'm not sure what card you can unlock but this is for 6200 only[6200TC DOESN'T WORK]. Some of the other cards you can flash the bios to unlock, but i don't know how to do it, and it's OT as this is on Rivatuner only.

Load up RivaTuner and click the box by the red dot, then click the first option that pops up on the little bar.

Click the image to open in full size.
Click the image to open in full size.

Next, click the Nvstrap tab at the top of the screen and hit Install down near the bottom. Check the checkbox down by the red dot in the picture, change the dropdown list to custom, and click customize.

Click the image to open in full size.

Once inside, click the checkbox by the red dot, click ok. Then hit apply, and ok. It will tell you it needs to reboot your computer.

Click the image to open in full size.

Once back into windows, go back into RivaTuner. If your screen looks like the picture below, Congratulations! Your card now has all of it's pipes unlocked.

Click the image to open in full size.
*The line with the read dot reads 128-bit NV43(A2,8x1,3vp) with 128MB DDR.

Enabling PerfLevelForcing will not prevent 2D/3DL/3D from switching.

Just set to Force Constant Performance Level to "disabled".

UPDATE:

I was prompted a question on internal clock test a while back on RC16, which lacked the line "DisableInternalClockTest".

The solution is as follow:

Click the image to open in full size.
Normal tweaks.

Click the image to open in full size.
STFU tweak.

For users who hit the end of the bar, and can go further, under MaxClkLimit set a large value ranging from 300~5000 or so.

Should the 25% limit be insufficient, you can further alter the fan speed.

Click the image to open in full size.

Change the value to 0.

Click the image to open in full size.

Now you can use fan speeds below 25%. In this case it allowed the inno3D 6800GS to be inaudible on the desktop.

lol basically i set all @ the same setting so it doesn't really throttle much. only used for benching. If not i'll downclock for playing games.

Enabling PerfLevelForcing will not prevent 2D/3DL/3D from switching.
