Intel Core 2 Duo Voltage Boost For All Motherboards Shamino Aug 18th, 06, 05:08 PM 2 links from elsewhere to this Post. Click to view. #1 (permalink)

The Core 2 Duos bring the joy back for the Intel Overclockers with their easy to handle heat and ample of overclock head-room. However, the overclocking capacity depends as much on the motherboards paired with them. Some of the enthusiasts on a tight budget are stuck with a limiting motherboard, particularly in the voltage department. However, with just conductive ink and some tape, you can boost your CPU Voltage all the way up to 1.6v easily!

Very nice! Right where most air-cooling tops out at!

Kudos!

@sham,

U r the man. I happened to have Asrock mATX that does not have any vcore option. And I have my conductive pen with me. muhahahahha. But I am not gonna mod my chip but will try to mod the FSB and FSB is all what I want

Btw, after u mod the chip, can the vcore option 'appear' in the bios or there is no way to know the vcore except measure with miltimeter???

Quickly post the FSB mod ba.....can't wait

Most important thing is to tape and cover the surronding pins precisely.

For me, sharp eyes is much more important than steady hand as the pins are tiny

The option won't appear in the BIOS but I believe the default Vcore is now recognised as the penned voltage.

The BIOS monitor should reflect the change.

There is less risk of killing the board with this mod, since the application of Vcore is native to the CPU.

hmm on bad axe default vcore for my E6600 seems to be 1.275v = 1.242v and max 1.6v = 1.55v

So does this mean with 1.45v mod above,

bios = real
1.275v = ~1.45v vcore
1.45v = 1.625v
1.55v = 1.725v ?
1.6v = ~1,775v vcore ?

I don't think so. You will have AUTO at 1.6V, if you do the 1.6V mod, and probably more Vcore options unlocked upwards.
