VDimm mod help! Plidu Oct 13th, 06, 02:02 AM #1 (permalink)
I have pic how to do. But "accesessibility" of V-mod chip is disasterer. I can`t access them cleanly with my solderin` iron and I need a alternative.
I give you a pic and if you can help me I will be grateful.
It will be good if I don`t need a bigger pic because i don`t have a camera so I must search it on net.
BTW, the board is ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2.

Edit: I`m sorry, I forgot a pic!

Please check if the soldered pin is hooked to the SMD resistor beside it.

If one end of that resistor goes to the pin and the other to ground, you can pencil across that resistor.

yan, I can`t see it clean (beacuse those white lines) but how I see is in the pic below.
Can we be surely by measuring resistance or voltage on this small resistor(s)?

I was read somewere that if connect a yellow wire from PSU on place of missing capacitor that should be 3.3V for vdimm!
Is it possible?

Yes you could but the onboard Vregs may burn...a safer way is to remove the Vdimm inductor before you solder in the 3.3V.

OK. 1 more question:
Perhaps, between 3.3V wire and MoBo put a variable resistor to can set a Voltage below 3.3V?
And, sory for my blame, but what is Vdimm inductor in this case? LM324?
Best regards!

Vdimm inductor is the coil that holds memory voltage.

No you can't vary the Vdimm just with a VR between 3.3V and mobo.

Fellows, how much is the limit V I can go?
I don`t ask for DDR limit, I ask for MoBo, how much is "safe" to raise resistance?
BTW, now I` running @ 3.05V (~150Kohm).

I can reach "only" 3.07-3.08V!
If raise resistance (Voltage over 3.1V) board behave like is dead. Fans are runnin` but no boot screen.
When i back V on 3.00-3.05V it works "ordinally"...
I have BH-5 DDR & I need more than 3.05V for this memory...
Any ideas?
