Den he used a MS with ps1 games and tested the "modded" psp. As the games format cannot be seen unless u access the MS, it appears tat the "modded" psp would be able to run ISO/CSO games.

Finally the MS he bundle wif the package is the one tat he used for testing and tats the reason how we found out its a scam. The MS is oso a fake one w/o any brand.

So would like u to update yr thread to warn the others out there of this shop.

Violence in Sim Lim Square # 02-76
I just want to warn everyone to AVOID going to unit # 02-76 in Sim Lim. They are grotesque scammers that has the tendency to be physically violent to customers. I was one of their unfortunate victims. Their signboad says 'Evolution Gaming LLP', but as I was researching on the net, they apparently regularly change their store name. They used to be called MH Electronics, or Mobile House Electronics. And a neighbouring store that's unit # 02-72 also used to be 'Evolution Gaming'. They were also called 'Compact Camera'. I've read a lot of complaints from that store too.

Anyway, here's what happened. My girlfiend and I went to Sim Lim to buy a PSP. I know, it was quite stupid of me to go there for a PSP. It's all over the net that the last place to buy a PSP is in Sim Lim. I went anyway, thinking it's "not gonna happen to me" (i was dead wrong). So we went to different shops to ask for prices. The prices we got were 360, and 340.. complete with all the necessary stuff like battery, 4G card, cable, case, and modification. When we got to unit # 02-76 (Evolution Gaming LLP), they quoted us $308. That was too cheap.. but it was almost 9pm and I was just tired and wanted the PSP. So I said I'll take one. The sales guy was friendly. He's tall, fat, and had a lot of pimples on his face. He took our money and said he'll modify it in front of us. After the so-called modification, he showed the PSP to me... and it was lagging! He said the modification took much of the RAM and it needed an upgrade, and that we had to pay $200! Holy sh*t... and while he was selling the upgrade to me, he kept calling me 'my friend...'. That was just annoying. I said we don't have that kind of money, and we'd like to get our money back. From here, things got ugly. The store owner (tall, skinny, and also had a lot of pimples) started shouting at us, saying just take the PSP, the we're wasting his time, etc. And another guy tried to talk to us,this short little guy with glasses, squeaky voice, introduced as the store manager. He tried to explain about the upgrade. But we've heard enough. We just wanted our money back, and we were not leaving. Finally they said we could have our money back, but since the PSP has already been modified, we should pay the GST (wtf!). After much debate, I just said fine.. if that's what it takes to just leave this place, then ok. So they gave us our money, less gst (that's $21 - not bad, but still hurts). We were so pissed leaving the store. I decided to take a photo of the store premises so I could have a 'souvenir' for the event. Suddenly, this little guy with glasses (store manager, they say) started to slap me in the face! (I'm not sure if it was a slap or a punch.. looked like a punch, felt like a slap) He also shoulted at me with his small squeaky voice. I prepared to hit back, aiming at his small face.. but suddenly I see this tall lanky guy running from the store carrying a metal stool. And the fat pimply guy who tried to sell the PSP also came out running towards us too. The little guy's got backup! So now there's 3 of them, and one of me. I remember thinking, if I fight back, this is going to get ugly for me. But then, the short guy took a plastic chair and continued to hit me, as well as this tall guy with the metal stool! Unit # 02-76 Evolution Gaming LLP is situated at the corner of the floor. The beating continued until we reached the escalator. They hit me on the face, the arms, and body. My girlfriend was just shouting 'please stop!'. Suddenly they demanded for me to delete the photo.. i had no choice but to comply. After deleting (they continued to hit me by the way), Sim Lim security came in the scene. The little guy gave me one last hit on the body with his reliable plastic chair. After that, security called the police. The police came to talk to me, then went up to talk to the store owner (tall pimply guy). The guys that attacked me where no longer there (of course). We went to the police station, I gave a statement, they gave me a medical form, we went to the hospital to document the scratches I obtained from the attack. The police said that they were going to launch an investigation about it.

So now here I am writing about it. The net has got loads of warning stories like this about the scamming happening in Sim Lim. Let this be an additional story about it. I haven't actually read about any violence happening, so I think this is the first.

Reading up on the net, here's a few more stories/complains about unit #02-76 / Evolution Gaming LLP for scamming and bad service.

This one is when they were still called Mobile House Electronics Pte Ltd (signboard MH Electronics): http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/sh....php?t=1696186

Here's another one about #02-76 where they have bad attitude: http://talkback.stomp.com.sg/forums/...p/t-10687.html

Here's another one about Evolution Gamming LLP:
http://imcomplicatedyetsosimple.blog...m-sim-lim.html

And another one for Evolution Gaming LLP:
http://forums.gameaxis.com/showthrea...Sim+lim+square

And another yet one... "Extreme Lousey Service in Sim Lim Sqare". This time it's in #02-72 but still called "Evolution Gaming LLP" (it's either they like exchanging signboards, or its the same owner): Extreme Lousy Service in Sim Lim Square-#02-72 - www.GameAxis.com Forums

Here's another on #02-72, but it's no longer called "Evolution Gaming".. This time their signboard says "Compact Camera": http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/sh....php?t=1793609

And another one on #02-72: SgForums :: Singapore's Online Community - Queries of purchased PSP (tio con?)

So I guess # 02-76 and # 02-72 exchange names, and has the same modus operandi. Everyone beware of these shops!

Just want to share a bad experience of how I was duped into buying something unnecessary at Smart Play Trading at Blk 154 Bukit Batok Street 11.

I bought a PS3 together with some games (MGS4 & Top Spin 3) from them about 2 weeks ago. That was all I had intended to buy, but I feel the boss had used dishonest means to trick me into buying an unnecessary HDMI cables.

I had declined the cables at first, but he insists that HDMI cables are required to play certain games, without which the games simply don't work. One such game he claimed is MGS4, which I had wanted to buy. To further convince me, he said he was giving me a 20% discount which is only available if I buy there and then in 1 single receipt, thus dissuading me from testing out MGS4 on my TV first.

As it turned out, my TV doesn't come with HDMI. And I can still play MGS4 like normal. So his claim that HDMI is needed to play MGS4 is actually a gross misstatement, in fact, an outright lie.

I was careful not to unwrap the HDMI cables, hoping that I can return it and get a refund.

But guess what, no refund!

So avoid this place if you can.

GST
Its the most common way that salesman use to cheat the public. a few pointer to let know to everyone here. GST stands for goods services tax. NOT ANY AND EVERY SHOP CAN TAKE GST FROM YOU. Under singapore law only if that show is registered with the governemt on GST then it can charge you gst as every cent of the gst you pay go straight to the govenment,

Every company that are registered with the government on GST WILL HAVE AN GST REGISTRATION NUMBER and this number MUST be show on the company official reciept.

And if you suspect that the number shown on the reciept are fake you can call up government bodies to check the validity of this reg number against the shop name and details. It will be jail term under singapore law for anyone who used an fake gst reg num or charge ppl gst but his shop is not registered with gst or claims that he is gst registered but unable to give you the reg number. You can just call government bodies to check on his shop license and everything will be out clear.

It is also near illegal for shop to quote prices without gst then when you come back they will say just now that price is without gst so after gst will be $$$... I remember reading out somewhere that any shop that can charge gst must let the customer know the acutual prices of that item when they quoted the price in the first place, cant say this $100 then when you wanna buy he will say plus gst will be $107.

Gst is only FLAT 7% so dun let shop con you say plus this plus that add up gst are more that 7 percent. This is also an serious offence.

*

Export sets

Export sets are those set that the shop tell you got no sony warrenty as its not under official sony coverage. This kinda set is only for export uses meaning that by right you cant use that set in singapore. And if an shop is going to sell you an export set he is suppose to state out clearly that the set is not for use in singapore and gst are not collected for that set. as exports means its not under singpore duties and taxes so he cant charge you for gst even if he is registered with gst. Actually by right he is also not even allowed to sell that kinda set in singapore one but gov close one eyes only. Eg if you brought an japan exported set, beside the box sure got write SET IS FOR SALE AND USE IN JAPAN ONLY. So make sure shop dun charge you gst on exported sets as in the 1st place its not even allowed to be on sale in singapore so it shouldnt occur singapore taxes at all ma.

*

Warrenty

The next killer i will talk about will be warrety and returns. Always ensure that the warrenty you get from the shop are authentic. How to know and check is simple.

On local sets ensure that you have an official sony warrenty card with date of purchase and place of purchases filled in before you leave the shop as if anything not filled in may cause void of warrenty by sony. always confirm that its the correct warrenty card by check your psp set type with the warrenty card as printed on the card will be the set type eg PSP- 1006 CW it sands for asian psp set CEREMIC WHITE. PSP 1006 K stands for asian psp set black.

Dun let shop fool you with fake warrenty cards. There is no such things as only have official reciept from the shop and warrenty are 1 year from sony but shop say dun have warrenty card one, and no such thing as no warrenty card are given but you can just go home and registered your psp serial number online at sony.com. all these are fakes warrenty types. And double confirm that when you get the set the OFFICIAL SONY WARRENTY SEAL ARE INTACT AND NOT TAMPERED. No such thing as the seal was removed or tampered but the game shop paste their warrenty stickers over the official seal and tell you no worries sony will honour the warrenty when they see the company seal even with the official seal removed or tampered.

As for set that the shop say only got shop warrenty, there be a few notes to take here. Make sure the shop says clearly that what type of warrenty they provide. eg got shop say 6 months warrenty but when u go back they will say yes warrenty on free services but whatever parts spoilt you have to purchased from them. so in turn you still got to pay, some even more funny say 6 mths then they dun give you an reciept giving excuse like paper went out so when u go back they will say did you buy from me?

so always ask for official receipt with terms of warrenty stated down clearly with signature of salesman and ask him note that under what kinda situation will the warrenty be void as i know 1 bro here kena cheated by a shop, shop says 1 year warrenty on parts and services if spoilt by manufaturer errors, then his wifi card cant work then he go back to the shop then the shop ppl die die say he drop the psp so wifi spoilt so he will get free warrenty on services instead but he got to buy $80 wifi card from them.

*

Lighting hand

Some shop may make you blur like they will say get this this price get that that price then add this add that then this amt then plus gst, main idea here is to make you blur so you will pay more than what was agreeded so the catch here is whatever you are buying from him make sure he list out one by one with the prices breakdown on the reciept and make sure total $ amount is correct before you pay.

*

No stock shops

Some shop in order to spoilt the market they will quote you low prices for the item you are buying then when you say you want then they will say oh i no more stock le have to wait 1 week then next week you come he will give you same excuse cus he just want to spoilt the market so deal ppl cannot get he oso cannot get. Eg psp standard pack $229 version 1.5 gst included no need buy or pay additional stuff. Everyone knoe this is damn cheap price, you straightaway tell him ok you will have one and you will see him stunt and the no stock excuse will come out. so remember to scold him black shop before you leave.

*

Special sets

Some shop may give you refurbished/ reconditioned sets and sell you as new say to say you cant really check this as only way is check security sony seal intact so ensure that housing was not changed before ad look for scratches on the set and for white psp can look for signs of yellowish. Check system info for username see if it was names like tom dick or harry haha. and network settings for network saved there.

Unbricked sets are almost totally impossible to be sold as shop as its not cost worthy.

Some shop may remove certain parts of your psp then sell you at cheaper price so they can sell the items they removed eg wifi card or when you come back they will help you "repair" and charges you ao like what i said many times ENSURE THAT SONY SEAL IS INTACT. if seal gone then check throughly the sets buttons and everything before you leave that shop.

Firmware 4.30, 7.99, 1.23 whatever dun believe as all are just version spoofers, meaning they just change the name of the version only eg 1.5 - 7.11 so they can tell ppl this set special and rare so expensive too. An firmware is not easy to make, i last took 9 month to complete making one. so i dun think anyone in the game shop actually have time to give you special firmwares.

*

Packages

Shop like to add package to customers so they can earn a lot. Eg $240 psp 1.5 std pack but must buy battery at $78 and warrenty add another $50 and so on. if u dun want then you cant buy at $240. Make sure you know the prices of the items you are buying before you make a deal with this kinda shop, eg battery $38 so dun buy at $78 the same battery.

Know the type of package will help too like in a

Standard pack - set, battery, charger
Value pack - set battery , charger , pouch , strap , earpiece , earpiece controller
Giga pack - set battery , charger , pouch , strap , earpiece , earpiece controller , 1gb memory stick.

Just turn over the box you can see listed there What is included in the package. So ensure ppl dun take out things inside to sell you haha.

The confused

Confusion is an deadly weapon. Some salesman will quote you low prices like maybe $30 lower than normal prices then when you wanna buy he will say its a must to do an this or that service at $? or they will say a lot of rubbish then tell you go out an search for better offer if you dont believe they have the best price and of course when you cant find an better price than him when you go back he will say ok he sell you at that price then he psyco you buy memorystick form him using the excuse that his set is selling cheap so his memorystick are also cheaper than the rest and when you brought and asked around you will know that he pull down psp set price but pull up using memorystick and other services prices so earned a lot $ frm u. , 1 victim today le, pepz hope that this help.

*

Forced SALES
Apparently there is a new method of tactics employed by some ONLINE sellers, this is called forced sales, meaning that they advertised for their consoles prices cheap to attract interested crowd then you cant really just buy the cheap consoles from them then get cheaper accessories from outside, seller like this usually places their accessories prices higher than outside market, not by a lot of difference but then they will basically "beg" you to buy more accessories with the consoles cus they claims they only earns a "little" end up you will have to buy more than what you needed. So advice is dun bother about the begging part, just buy the cheap consoles.

*

PPP / PBP Games
A lot of shop are using a new tactic to cheat customer that there is a modded set by being able to play PPP , PBP games, dont be cheated as this is untrue, the only and best way to check if your set is modded is by borrowing a iso loaded memory stick from a friend then put it into the psp that you are going to buy then see if you can see the ISO games. if you cant, this set cannot be modded or have not been modded.

*

Advice

When you go and buy something act knowlegebale on that item, dun go into an game shop saying sorry but i am new to psp can i get one from you as 99.9% you will kena chop vegetable head cui cui. do some homework before you buy things.

If you kena cheated by an black shop selling you an export set then say gt warrenty then shrink responsibilty in the end, look at his official reciept, if he never include an sentence saying that set sold are for export uses only and not to be used in singapore, take that reciept to the police and report him selling an export goods without quoting in reciept, or you scare him using this he will lan lan one.

Always check reciept to make sure that all information are in correctly places eg, type of warrenty, warrenty date frm date to date, set type and serial number, with what additional items, gst registeration number, CORRECT total $ amt b4 n after gst.

Check the SONY WARRENTY SEAL IF in tact or tampered.

------------

Guys pm me your experiences too so i can update this thread helping more people expose cheats.

Check instantly if the company is registered with gst.

Ok, would just like to add on, for PSP accessories, get them at http://www.play-asia.com/

Really don't bother buying here in sg.
I've seen so many, many shops, accessories so $ex as compared to play-asia.
Mostly selling almost double the price.

For e.g the Alumor Metal Case, sells for almost $40 in most if not all shops here.
But you can get it in playasia for $23. Free shipping to Sg!

If you don't have a credit-card, I strongly suggest you apply for a debit card.

Third-party batteries only cost around $20.
If it's in the shops here, the same one would cost $50.

Cut-throat prices.
